چکیده
Background and Purpose: Trichophyton quinckeanum, a known zoophilic dermatophyte responsible for favus form in rodents camels, is occasionally reported to cause human infections. Case Report: This study aimed report case of tinea corporis caused by T. quinckeanum that experienced annular erythematous pruritic plaque with abundant purulent secretions. In June 2021, 15-year-old girl an cup shape lesion on the right wrist bigger than 3 cm diameter was examined corporis. Since March, 2016 her family has kept several camels at home. Direct examination skin scraping exudates revealed branching septal hyaline hyphae arthrospore. Morphological evaluation recovered isolate from culture sequencing ITS1-5.8S rDNA-ITS2 region resulted identification quinckeanum. Antifungal susceptibility testing showed this had low minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values luliconazole, terbinafine, tolnaftate, but high MICs itraconazole, fluconazole, posaconazole, miconazole, isavuconazole, ketoconazole, clotrimazole, griseofulvin. However, patient successfully treated oral terbinafine topical ketoconazole. Conclusion: It can be said often missed or misidentified due its morphological similarity mentagrophytes/T. interdigitale other similar species. species first as Iran. As expected, few months after our study, detected areas Iran, cases

متن کاملTinea corporis due to Trichophyton simii - a first case from Iran.
A 25-year-old man was examined for tinea corporis. Microscopic examination of direct 10% KOH mount of skin scraping revealed the presence of hyaline, septate, branching hyphae. Cultures inoculated with portions of skin scrapings yielded, after two weeks Trichophyton simii. The identification of the fungus was based on colony morphology on mycobiotic agar and microscopic characteristics on slide...
متن کاملTopical antifungal treatments for tinea cruris and tinea corporis.
BACKGROUND Tinea infections are fungal infections of the skin caused by dermatophytes. It is estimated that 10% to 20% of the world population is affected by fungal skin infections. Sites of infection vary according to geographical location, the organism involved, and environmental and cultural differences. Both tinea corporis, also referred to as 'ringworm' and tinea cruris or 'jock itch' are ...

Background: Tinea corporis is a superficial fungal infection of the glabrous skin of the trunk and extremities caused by closely related organisms of the three genera – Trichophyton, Microsporum, and Epidermophyton, collectively known as dermatophytes. The prevalence of the different species varies according to geographic and climatic regions. Trichophyton rubrum has been reported from various ...
